A women group has called on Kenyans to help orphaned children living in children’s homes and those from poor homes with the necessary financial aid and food to enable them lead normal lives. Nobokigwe Women Group chairperson Alice Gesare was speaking in Nyakongo childrens home in Gesima Ward Nyamira County where they had paid a visit to the orphaned to give food aid to the children. She said that there is great need that the children be helped and supported since it is not their will to be in such a situation and they are incapable of taking care of themselves. “We decided to help these children today because we know they have a greater need for support and I want to call on my fellow Kenyans to be doing this regularly not to await the festive season only,” said Gesare. She also called on well-wishers to help the needy all the time and asked both levels of government, the County and National Governments to join hands with in helping these children as they have started an initiative of helping them on a monthly basis. She urged the people to remember the children in prayers adding that they are the future of this country and they should be put first before anything else. “Let us come together as people of Nyamira and support our children, our future leaders of this country,” she said.
