Lanet Women Group in Nakuru County has moved to court to seek orders restraining a private developer from further interferences and developments plans on a piece of land they claim the said developer wants to grab from them.
In a petition filed at the Nakuru High Court on Monday by lawyer Lawrence Momanyi representing Momanyi & Co. Advocates, members of the Women Group want the court to restrain one Stanly Githinji from ‘trespassing’ and ‘interfering’ with structures on a piece of land located along Nairobi-Nakuru highway near Shiners Secondary School.
The women Group maintains that the piece of land in dispute and which the private developer intends to build a resort on, legally belongs to them.
They now pray that, the court treats the petition as a matter of urgency since the private developer was continuing to interfere with several structures which are on the 2 acre piece of land.
The Women Group claims that they bought the land in the year 2005 from a private owner who issued them with a title deed that is in their possession and hence are the rightful owners of the land.
The group intends to put up a nursery school, a trading centre and a curio-manufacturing factory at the property once plans are ready.
