The Community Advocacy and Awareness Trust (Crawn) criticized law enforcement officers for abusing their powers and assaulting locals during the post-election protests leaving several casualties.
“Women here
have narrated what they went through during the raid by police on
Friday,” leader Dorothy Awino told the press
on Wednesday as reported by The Star.
According to reports 14 of 47 victims were shot by police. There were also complaints that the officers sexually assaulted women and girls during the raids.
Manyatta,
Nyalenda, Kondele, Carwash, Obunga and Nyamasaria were
among the list of areas victims were assaulted by law enforcement
officers.
Six-month old Samantha Pendo who made headlines recently was among the victims to have died during the post-election protests.
President Uhuru
Kenyatta stated that those intending to protest should acquire
permits prior to holding there demonstrations and that law
enforcement should practice restraint.
"Kenyans have said the election is behind them and majority have returned to work. Don't interrupt the lives of others. As a government, we will not allow destruction of property loss of lives and looting," he said.
