Women in Tinet sub-location, Kuresoi South have appealed for county government to build maternity clinics in the region. The women said that they are forced to travel long distances to look for services and the situation has worsen during the ongoing heavy rain which has made roads in the region impassable.
Speaking at a function in Tinet today, Liza Chelule, Nakuru Women Representative argued that setting up clinic in the region will ensure that the wome2n receives services easily and efficiently.
“Women in this place are forced to travel miles in order to access maternal services. Some women risks giving birth at homes and this will promote maternal deaths. It’s high time we think of setting up clinics in the region” said Chelule.
Speaking in the same occasion, David Ngare, District Clinical Officer urged men to encourage their expectant wives to visit maternity facilities so as to safeguard their lives and the lives of the new ones.
“It’s very disturbing when we check our records and find that many women don’t attend regular check-up during the pregnancy period,” he said. He added that he will champion the fight of urging the County Government to set up the clinic in the region.
