Women in Uasin Gishu County have vowed to preach peace ahead of October 26 presidential election.
Peace Ambassador Rose Kisama said in case of violence, it is women and children who suffer the most.
“In 2007 we really suffered when violence occurred. This time round let us maintain peace for the betterment of our nation,” she said in Eldoret town,Thursday.
“Kenyans should desist from any acts of violence before, during and after the general elections. Every Kenyan has the right to reside in any part of the country since its enshrined in the constitution,” she added.
She, however, called upon politicians to stop inciting voters against each other since they are all Kenyans.
“Kenyans should shun politicians engaging in hate speech since without peace there will be no development whatsoever. As women we are crying for nothing else but peace,” noted Kisama.
She urged the media to give blackout politicians who are fond of abusing and inciting others against one tribe or the other.
In 2007 Uasin Gishu County was badly affected by the post election violence that faced the country.
