A Nakuru-based lawyer, Susan Wambui has described the role undertaken by women as good examples to the growth of a nation.
The lawyer said that women play a critical role in the growth of economies despite being undermined by their male counterparts.
Speaking on Wednesday at Bahati Trading centre during a fundraiser in aid of Bahati Women Group, Wambui urged the women to remove the barriers that block the full realisation of their potential.
She commended the group for engaging in income-generating activities that have broken the cycles of poverty.
“The role being played by the women in breaking the cycles of poverty is encouraging,” said Wambui.
She urged the male counterparts to support their wives with unflinching support in their quest to support their families through small enterprises.
“Women participation in enterprises shapes the social and economic realities and men should support them to achieve their goals,” said Wambui.
She further asked the government to implement programmes that focus on exploiting the potential of women in generating wealth.
“Women are the blood-life of economic growth and the government should empower ours to realize our potentials,” added Wambui.
Mary Nyambura, the Chairlady of the group said that the collective effort by women has improved their livelihoods.
