After a lot of debate that followed Jeff Koinange Live interview where Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Esther Passaris was allegedly humiliated by fellow aspirant Miguna Miguna, Fida has now come to the rescue of the Adopt A Light initiative boss.
Through chairwoman Josephine Mon’gare, Fida-Kenya has reached to the Media Council to take action against TV moderator Jeff Koinange for allegedly letting Miguna Miguna go on with his verbal onslaught on Passaris during the live show.
Speaking on Thursday, Ms Mon’gare castigated Miguna's comments and termed them "violence against women rights".
“We categorically condemn the violence meted out on Ms Passaris … We take great exception [to] the fact that Mr Jeff Koinange, the TV show host of no mean repute, allowed Mr Miguna to [repeatedly] disparage Ms Passaris on … national TV,” she said in a statement.
Mong'are further termed Koinange's conduct during the interview as unprofessional and utterly unacceptable.
“The show was not about issues but a personal attack,” she said.
“Some words by Mr Miguna amount to criminal acts like ‘you are beautiful every man wants to rape you’ in an attempt to discredit her ambitions for the gubernatorial seat,” she said.
