Women leaders in Nakuru have come out to defend the embattled Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika saying they will oppose any ill motives by a section of County Assembly Members to frustrate her position.
Emma Mbugua, Nominated Member of the County Assembly from Bahati Ward, the home tuff of the speaker, while speaking at an International Women’s Day Awareness Forum at Keratina market centre in Nakuru town on Saturday observed that the recent attempted assault of the Speaker was misguided by sexism attitudes from the male County Assembly representatives who believe that women are incapable of providing sound leaderships.
According to the MCA, Kihika’s leadership star was shining bright and that all women in Nakuru would support her to attain even higher political seats in future.
“Those who are trying to fight our speaker are enemies of women leadership. They believe that women are incapable of delivering on leadership mandates, but they are wrong. We are all behind her and we will support her to achieve bigger things in future,” said the MCA.
She added that the current in fighting among Members of the County Assembly over petty issues were being motivated with greediness and were derailing development agenda of the house.
She asked her colleagues to stop being ‘selfish’, and live up to their campaign pledges to serve the public interests at all costs.
