Kenya Network of Women Governors (Kenwog) chairperson Ruth Odinga has challenged women MCAs who were nominated in Kisumu County Assembly to vie for elective positions in 2017.

Odinga said the nominated MCAs should work hard and be able to get the mandate of the people in the coming elections.

She told them to venture in identifying projects for the people saying that is the only springboard that can propel them to elective politics.

“Let the nominated MCAs step out and start initiating developments in their areas if they are keen to capture elective positions in 2017,” she said.

Odinga who is also the Deputy Governor of Kisumu said that there are a number of organisations that have stepped in to help the women MCAs to carry out development project.

Speaking in Kisumu on Monday during a training meeting organised by the Network for Women Leaders in the county; Odinga said women have the capacity to perform exceptionally.

She lauded the people of Kisumu for giving more women a chance at political leadership.

Odinga told the women in political leadership to prove that they were not elected by chance but are capable of service delivery to the people.

“It is time elected women show that they have the energy to work and deliver proper and quality services to the people,” she said.
