A meeting held by women members of county assembly on Monday at a Mombasa hotel nearly ended in blows as a rift emerged between elected MCAs and their nominated counterparts.
The drama ensued when Kisumu County minority chief whip Celestine Awino took to the podium amid cheers from the elected MCAs who were the minority in the house, to address members on the emerging issues between the two groups.
However, this did not go down well with their nominated counterparts who thought the statements by Mrs Awino were demeaning to them.
A war of words soon ensued with some of the women leaders throwing bottles of water at the MCA to register their disappointment in her utterances.
It took the intervention of Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika to cool down the leaders as she took the microphone from the minority chief whip.
