Women Members of Parliament have on Saturday toured Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on a fact finding mission over rape allegations at the new born unit. The chairperson of the parliamentary health commitee, Sabina Chege, who led the group, piled pressure on the KNH management to assertain the extend of the allegations even as the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) commences investigations.“The management needs to take responsibility for what has happened. The mothers should be put in one ward near the new born baby unit as opposed to the many wards in this facility. There is no need of a mother being in third floor when her baby is in second floor,” Ms. Chege said.Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda urged the hospital management to allow Investigations to take place with an open mind and not to conceal any evidence.“What we would like to tell the management that they should have an open mind so that we can find a solution to the matter,” Ms. Lesuuda said.On Friday health cabinet secretary Cleophas Mailu called for an inquest into the allegations at the hospital.KNH CEO Lily Koros denied the allegations and asked the general public to ignore the reports."We have been disturbed by the alarming reports on social media and we advise you all to ignore them," Dr Koros said.
