Irate women on Sunday stormed a pub at Gitothua in Ruiru to express their dissatisfaction with the sale of illicit brews in the area.
The women said that their husbands have lost control and have since abandoned their family roles.
They however blamed this particular pub for what they said is selling liquor even to the school-going children.
"We are tired of children in secondary schools consuming alcohol to the extent of even abandoning their studies. At 10am on Sundays on our way to church we find them here drunk and staggering," said Agnes Wangui King'ee.
Another disgruntled parent Elizabeth Wanjiru said that even the primary school children have joined the lot.
"Pupils in Githunguri Primary are drinking alcohol like nobody's business even before they are done with class eight," said Wanjiru.
The women who vowed to continue with cleaning the area off illicit brews wondered whether there are no laws in the area.
"Men have forgotten their responsibilities. Alcohol is sold here all day; are there no laws?" asked Anne Njeri, another protester.
