Lamu Women Representative Shakilla Abdalla has called upon leaders from the Coast region to form a political outfit to enable one of their own to clinch the Presidency in 2022.
Speaking in Lamu on Saturday, Shakilla said leaders from the Coast region have supported other candidates for many years, adding that time has come for them to strategize on how they can rise to power after the August 8 elections.
The outspoken leaders also said that most of the alliances in the country have been formed with the aim of benefiting leaders from particular regions.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is among the candidates who have expressed their interest in the Presidency come 2022.
Shakilla, who was elected on a Wiper Party Ticket, urged different leaders from the region to come together to ensure their presidential dream comes true.
“I am calling upon coast leaders led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to rally Coast politicians and locals into forming a political outfit which we can use to send one of our own to the Presidency in 2022. If we do this early enough, it will work perfectly,” said Shakilla.
She further said that most of the current political parties are not pushing for the interests of Coast residents.
