Incumbent Isiolo Women Representative Tiyah Galgalo has made a political about-turn to remain in the race for the August election.

Tiyah had conceded defeat after losing the Jubilee nomination ticket to Ms. Rehema Dida, who garnered 18,361 votes her 10,831 votes.

Ms. Galgalo after conceding defeat had promised to not defend her seat and many had projected an early win for Ms. Dida.

With the return of Ms. Galgalo in the race, it throws the race wide open with a projected split of the Borana votes being the largest tribe in the county

Galgalo, an ardent supporter of the Jubilee Administration, blamed rampant cases of irregularities during the primaries compounded with rigging to why she didn’t beat Ms. Dida.

Ms. Galgalo has decided to run as an independent candidate to defend her seat so that she can continue with her development record in the region.

“I have worked together, tirelessly with the National Government, to bring about a lot of development projects to this region…if elected I will redouble my efforts,” she states.

She named various projects in county she had initiated including: affirmative action fund for women empowerment programmes, Huduma Centre establishment and construction of the Gotu Bridge as part of her development record.
