Kiambu County Women Rep. Annah Nyokabi has called on the county women to ensure that they utilise opportunities offered to them through few vacancies available in both counties’ and National government’s tenders.
Nyokabi said that women have been suffering stigma in the disbursement of public funds and giving out job opportunities. She however said that the current constitution has given them a chance to exploit their skills in different fields they have specialised in.
Speaking at Jomo Kenyatta University when he closed a Women Forum which commenced on Sunday (the International World Women’s Day), Nyokabi said that she has advocated for many willing women who were not aware of their rights to get jobs in the county and National governments.
She added that women should be educated to ensure that they are able to identify their responsibility and fight for their own rights instead of lagging behind.
“Women should come together and be trained as a group on their rights. Do not be left out by your children who are now excelling in their projects. The constitution has given you a chance to work and you should ensure that you get these jobs,” said Nyokabi.
She also urged youths to support their mothers who have not yet realised their responsibility in the society as stated in the Kenyan constitution.
Nyokabi lauded Kiambu youths saying that they have been flocking her office and asking for help in the scrutiny of their projects that she has supported and funded through the Uwezo Kitty Funds urging women to apply for the same.
