Speaking today in Nakuru Town, Mbugua said yesterday’s fighting among the MCAs showed an ugly picture of elected leaders and urged the rival groups to iron out their disagreements in a civil way.

“The MCAs portrayed a bad picture. The exchange of blows was a shame to the nation,” said Mbugua.

Nakuru County Assembly members fought at House Chambers after a 'stranger' was spotted on the press gallery whom MCAs accused of being a 'spy'. The fighting was also triggered by the ouster of majority leader George Mwaura.

During the confrontation, some MCAs were bitten, others were punched while others were dragged out of the chamber.

Mbugua called on the warring groups to strike a deal to end their disagreements for the sake of development.

“There is need for the MCAs to have a lasting solution and end their disagreement,” said Mbugua.

She said that the county needs leaders who would address the challenges facing the residents but not leaders who are driven by self-interests.

Mbugua said that yesterday's drama was synonymous with chaos that were perpetrated by the former councillors which only harmed developments.

“I urge the leaders have the responsibility to ensure that challenges facing the local people are addressed,” said Mbugua.

Mbugua said that the constant wrangles would derail developments in the county and portray a bad image to investors.
