The lorry which she said will create employment opportunity for youths in the county is meant to operate mostly in Kiambu town to clear the garbage areas which has been a nuisance to the residents.

According to Nyokabi, dumpsites will be identified in all sub-counties by the end of July for the garbage to be dumped in a specific region.

Nyokabi hoped that the initiative ‘Keep Kiambu Clean’ will keep the youths busy and help reduce crime among them since, according to her, the youths will be busy collecting garbage leaving them with no time to involve in criminal activities.

Nyokabi also said that she will donate 5 more lorries for the same purpose by the end of this year to help reduce drugs and substance abuse among the youth and create more jobs for them.

“By the end of the year, if all goes well, we will be having at least 5 lorries that will boost our cleaning status and create employment opportunities for our youths,” said Nyokabi.

The Women Rep. also said that in partnership with Kiambu county government, the initiative will be sold to all sub-counties to create employment and improve the environmental status of the county.

Nyokabi who was speaking in Kiambu town on Friday also challenged youths in the area to create employment so long as it is an ethical activity and be their own boss to improve their livelihood.

“Don’t wait to be employed by the government, try to create your own employment and be your own boss provided the activity you do is ethical,” challenged Nyokabi.

She hailed Kiambu County governor William Kabogo for his support to the Mashinani people by supporting projects which she believes will make a great impact to County.

The Women Rep revealed that plans were underway to establish car wash in different part of the county to keep youth busy and urged the members of the public to embrace the initiatives which will improve economic status of the county.

“My New year resolution is to recognise youth and help them in every business ideas they will table on her desk,” added Nyokabi.
