Kiambu County women rep Annah Nyokabi has urged Kiambu residents to utilise the rainy season to avoid starvation.
The women rep who visited the area with Agriculture CS Felix Kosgei advised farmers to start tilling their lands in readiness for the long rains.
The two who visited one of the farms in Ndeiya Ward on Tuesday held a sensitisation meeting on the importance of farming in the region and the economy of the country.
Nyokabi said that agriculture is the main economic activity in the country and Kiambu farmers should be aggressive in farming to create employment in the county.
The women rep urged the farmers to practice other forms of agriculture like poultry, fishing, rabbit rearing and bee keeping to satisfy market demands.
At the same time, Koskei said at least 20 dams will be built in Lussigetti by the end of June this year.
The dams are meant to help area residents address consistent water problems in the region.
He urged the residents to embrace farming as a source of income.
