Speaking on Saturday afternoon after touring the school, Gatheca feared for the lives of innocent pupils who would have been harmed had the walls collapsed in their presence.

“I am shocked the blackboard cracked, moving to the left while a teacher at Kaibere Primary School was writing on it; this is a serious matter and the constructor must be prosecuted for doing a shoddy job,” said Gatheca.

“Studetns now learning from outside, in the cold, the buildings should be demolished and reconstructed again to avert potential disaster,” she said.

The school’s board of management had since 2009 been soliciting for re-building funds from education stakeholders and the government in futility.

Gatheca promised to build one of the blocks from her personal kitty.

Meanwhile the demolition process of the affected blocks has started, with the ministry of education keeping its promise to have them brought down.

Pupils will continue to stay at home until further direction by the school management.
