Kwale Women Representative Zuleikha Hassan has dismissed claims of the National Super Alliance (NASA) sidelining Coast leaders in parliamentary leadership positions.Speaking during a press briefing at Parliament building on Monday, Hassan asked politicians who were not named to take up positions in Parliamentary Committees not to blackmail the coalition’s top brass for the sake of its unity. The remarks of the lawmaker come after a section of politicians led by Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori lamented that there was bias in the allocation of slots in parliamentary appointments as well as nominations to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).Hassan argued that leaders in the region were not united and aggressive in their push for parliamentary slots.“I am condemning the assertion by a section of MPs that the NASA coalition is sidelining Coast MPs on parliamentary slots. The mistakes were made by themselves or ourselves. It is incorrect to fight over such posts we were not strategic and there was no unity in the push for the slots,” said Hassan, as quoted by Baraka FM.She noted that Malindi Women Rep Aisha Jumwa was given a slot in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) which is a clear indicator that the region has been well-taken care of.“It is not that we missed everything, we got the parliamentary service commission seat which was given to Aisha Jumwa,” she added. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
