Mandera County women Representative Amina Geddow Hassan was on the receiving end after Kenyans from Mandera took to social media to criticize her for visiting Reykjavik, Iceland.
The locals felt that the Women Rep should have been in the county helping mitigate on the effects of the floods that have the wrecked the region instead of visiting Iceland nation.
Gedow noted that she was in Iceland for a geothermal conference that was to offer an in-depth discussion of the barriers that hinder development of the geothermal sector across the globe.
Here are some of the reactions.
“Your people are suffering due to the floods and you are enjoying yourself travelling overseas. What a shame, “noted Farhan Farshan.
“Find ways of addressing the plight of your people before you start tackling national issues. Entirely Mandera county is in pathetic conditions ranging from bad road, lack of quality education and primary health care just to mention a few and you are here bragging about trips outside Kenya. How are these timeless trips by you guys relevant t our needy situation in the county?” opined Towfig Abdallah.
“Go on gambling with public funds. Time will tell when elections are near,” said Hon Mic-raj Arai.
“Focus on the problems your county is facing now and not on the expensive trips,” stated M N Mcn Johany.
“Mashaallah I hope your Iceland visit will provide alternative sources of energy apart from KPLC and be aware that 80% of Mandera County is in blackout. Otherwise, good job,” said Ar Abdullahi Hussein.
