Kiambu County Women Representative Annah Gathecha has vowed to support orphaned children left in various children homes by their estranged or dead parents to further their education and improve their living standards.
Speaking at Mother of Mercy children’s home in Kiambu on Friday, Gathecha expressed her concerns to children living in poor conditions with little support in matters of education.
She said that she is keen on sponsoring various children’s homes in Kiambu to validate their dreams which was shuttered either by absentee parents or fate which could not be avoided.
Her love as a mother according to her is the willpower that has driven her in sponsoring the homes with food, clothes and an improved environment fit for the up bring of a child.
She condemned parents who neglect their children in the streets or dump them in unknown areas terming the practise as inhuman and unmotherly nature.
“Leaving your child to live in orphanage doesn’t symbolize motherly love, it shows how inhuman and criminal you are,” she said.
She added that in partnership with the County Government of Kiambu, they will ensure children living in orphanages have their lives upgraded to save the future generations in line with vision 2030.
Gathecha however lauded the guardians at various children’s home who have dedicated their lives in saving innocent souls from the street by giving them food, water shelter and clothes terming them as good Samaritans sent from above despite the harsh conditions of inadequate supply of resources to cater for their needs.
She further warned parents who neglect their children that they will probe on the whereabouts of a child and if found, they will be prosecuted in the court of law.
