Kibera youths have a reason to smile after the women representative office launched the Talanta Awards in the slum.
The awards named Jenga Talalnta Music will kick off on Monday with contestants auditioning for best musicians.
Confirming the incident, Kibera constituency parliamentary liaison, Vincent Madola said the auditions will take place at the Kibera AIC Training Centre which is situated along DC Ayany road, opposite Toi Market.
‘The event has been organised by the women rep office and will take place at AIC grounds. It will start at 9.00 am to 4.00 pm,’’ he said.
Madola called on all youths in the slum to try out the audition saying it is the best platform for those who dream of being great musicians in future.
‘’Many of the youths only need a platform; they are great people and are always hardworking. We believe this will bring them to the world,’’ added Madola.
He said that the winners represent Kibera Constituency at the county level Grand Finale. They will also be given recording deals with different recording studios and walk away with cash prizes.
The event will be attended by more than 200 youths from the slum.
