Every May 7, the world marks World Lady Biker’s day.
This is a time that brings everyone together, more so, female motorcycle riders and female motorcycle enthusiasts.
The day’s activities are synchronised worldwide, with participating nations deciding on what activities to undertake and the specific objectives to pursue. It is for this reason that Kenyan female motorcycle riders and female motorcycle enthusiasts on Saturday too joined the world for the celebration after it was flagged-off by the First Lady in State House, Nairobi.
In Kenya the Women Bikers Association (WBA) celebrated the day by promoting safe riding and through advocating the wearing of proper gear for both female and male riders, especially the helmet which is the most important protective gear.
Members of the all-female WBA who paid a courtesy call to the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta in Nairobi, took to the streets in their powerful machines between Java in Kileleshwa and Java (Garden City) before heading to Karura forest for conservation activities.
The WBA, under Serah Nyambura, the chairperson, brought together about thirty members drawn from across the Kenya.
