Nakuru Women Representative Martha Wangare has asked that people stop focusing too much on the boy child and forget about the girl child.
She has also called on authorities to take advantage of the just concluded County Youth Week to challenge girls into action.
According to Wangare, the term youth has over the years been used to the advantage of the male populace, something she attributes to male chauvinism being witnessed in our communities.
"Don't have a formed mind about something you have never given a try, be a go-getter and the rest, as they say, will always be history," she advised.
Wangare called on the youthful women to stand up and be counted arguing that such opportunities offers best platforms for anyone to get noticed and send a lasting impression.
"If it's talent, public speaking prowess, innovation or anything, the youth week offers the best opportunity to let us recognise the uniqueness in you, it will prove a lifetime later in your life as a professional or in your career path," she said.
The women rep further called on Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to consider ladies while allocating funds for youth saying that it has always suppressed female ideas.
She was speaking on Friday during the final tour of the Youth Week Caravan in Kuresoi North where a group of youth selected from all Sub Counties were traversing the County calling on youths to converge at a gala night on Saturday at the Nakuru player's theatre to brainstorm, share ideas, talents and innovations for a better youthful generation.
