Women Senators have vowed to ensure inclusion of women in National affairs.

Speaking on Tuesday when they held a consultative meeting with the Deputy President, the legislators led by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who is also the Majority Whip said they are committed to achieving the same.

Among issues discussed during the meeting was the Gender Bill.

“We deliberated on the Gender Bill and the need to ensure equity and inclusion of women in national affairs. He (the Deputy President) assured us of the Government’s total support,” said Senator Susan Kihika after the meeting.

According to the Nakuru Senator, the meeting also discussed the need for women Senators to ensure an increase in the uptake of the affirmative fund.

“As women senators, we need to ensure that women, youth, and people living with disabilities make use of the affirmative action fund. We also want to ensure an increased uptake of the 30% set aside for them in public procurement,” said the senator.

Deputy President William Ruto assured the legislators of the Government’s support on the same as stipulated in the constitution.
