"I started the groups  in all the nine subcounties that are in Kisii. After I sat down and realized that women can also play a very important role when it comes to promoting the economy of this county,” Ong'era said.

The workshop was attended by more than 200 women and saw the being taught various methods of gennerating income through agriculture, as well as different methods of farming.

"The main aim of this workshop is to teach you the various methods of how to make income through the produce that you get from farming. From today, we should not be doing farming for the sake of just harvesting but for the sake of making profits from the harvest that we get,” Ong'era said.

Ong'era went ahead and issued certificates to all those who attended the workshop.

"You have not attained the education that was required and it’s upon you to start teaching all those who could not make it to come to this workshop. I also urge all the other leaders to ensure that they organize forums like this which will educate you on the different methods of making income, and also on the ways of getting loans", Ong'era said.
