Women from Mwala in Machakos County have been told to take up 70 percent of parenting roles in their families.
Yathui assistant county commissioner Rita Simeo said social vices witnessed in children, mostly teenagers in the region, are due to parents who have failed to take up their responsibilities seriously.
"It's an honor for a woman to have a steady family which she can proudly introduce in the society," Simeo said.
She addressed the press at Yathui in Machakos county on Wednesday.
"Indulgence of teenagers into drugs and crime are caused by absentee parents who have no time for their kids", She said.
Simeo urged residents to register with National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to cater for medical bills in case of admission.
She said the move will reduce medical appeal harambees and ensure smooth medical attention.
"You won't need to weigh down your kins with the baggage of having to contribute funds to foot your medical bills in case you fall sick since NHIF will cater for your medication, be smart and register today", Simeo concluded.
