Nominated Senator Martha Wangari has called on women in Naivasha sub-county to stop being used or engaging in land related protests or clashes.
Wangari observed that women are being used by groups and politicians to participate in land related protests within Naivasha.
Speaking at Naivasha town on Monday, Wangari called on women to stop risking their own lives and instead be a unifying factor in times of crisis.
She said it was risky for women to engage in battles where spears and other crude weapons are being used.
“In the recent past we have witnessed a lot of land-related chaos and protests in Naivasha, and it is saddening to see women and even children being sued in these protests. I want to call on fellow women to always stay away from such protests because it is risky for them and their children,” said Wangari.
“Instead of being the ones to be used in throwing stones and holding placards, women must find a way of ending such protests when they start by acting as a unifying factor and mediators,” added Wangari.
“Women are known to have a voice of reason all the time and they should use the power they have to instill discipline into their men in the society because a society with peace loving women will always be peaceful,” she added.
