Speaking today at Kaiababu Location, Ikinu Ward in Githunguri sub-county Nyambura said that the venture is paying well and urged single mothers to try their hand in it.

'”This venture is simple because it does not require huge capital to take off,” said Nyambura.

She said that her group has 17 members with 2,000 chickens ranging from broilers, layers, indigenous chickens, turkeys and guinea fowls and they are currently trying quails.

'”These birds are our source of wealth. We sell their products and the proceeds go to supporting our families,” said Nyambura.

She said that the members started the group after accessing the best possibility of earning income.

“We have no husbands to support us so we get our support from these birds,” she added.

Nyambura urged other single mothers and unemployed women to form groups and try their lack in poultry farming.

“This type of farming suits people of low income because it does not require huge resources,” said Nyambura.

She however urged women to stop depending on politicians for handouts but involve themselves in income generating activities to support their families.
