Gatundu North chairperson for Maendeleo ya Wanawake Nancy Komu has challenged county governments to allocate adequate funds to women projects.
She said time has come for women to gain economic independence through acquisition of their own resources.
Komo challenged women to form groups in order to access Uwezo and Youth funds that have been established by the government.
Speaking at the sub county hall in Kamwangi during a together women forum, the leader asked women to work hard to create wealth to uplift the welfare of their families.
"It’s my wish that county governments foster women projects by allocating them enough funds. This drives hope for societal change for when a woman is transformed, the whole society changes," said Komu.
She said Maendeleo ya Wanawake will ensure that all girl schools in the area are fully equipped to improve their learning and ultimately change their future through education.
On politics, she called on politicians to exercise sobriety and avoid name calling and maligning each other in public forums condemning the ongoing row between Kiambu County leadership and Members of Parliament.
She asked local women to vie for the governorship position during the next general election, arguing that male leaders had proved unable to transform Kiambu.
