Former Constitution Implementation Commission chairperson Charles Nyachae has called upon all women in Gusii land to ensure that they vote for visionary leaders in the 2017 general elections.
According to Nyachae the women in Kenyans have the numbers to influence the votes in the country.
He said the country needed servant leadership that will focus on the needs of the people over that of ‘narrow selfish interests.'
Speaking over the weekend at Mache Achumbi area, Inchuni ward, Nyachae also urged women not to shy away from vying for elective positions, which they observed as male dominated.
He said the forth-coming general polls were crucial for the country, and urged the electorate to seize the moment to elect credible leaders in the various elective posts.
“We need to scrutinise candidates vying for elective posts so that we don’t end up electing leaders with tainted images,” he added.
He said women should not feel intimidated or victimised in any way as they seek to take up leadership roles, especially in elective and appointive positions, saying the constitution was clear on the affirmative action.
