Speaking at the Kiandutu slums in Thika while donating a car washing machine to a youth group, area MP Alice Ng’ang’a said that young people should come out and take part in the county’s development.

The MP further said that youths have skills and innovative ideas that can help address issues facing the society.

“I want to ask young people to come out and work with local leaders in order to spur development, let us involve ourselves in projects that are beneficial to the county,” said Ng’ang’a.

She further said that the government has initiated various programmes meant to curb unemployment, adding that she has put in place strategies meant to improve the economic welfare of the area youths.

Ng’ang’a urged youths to apply for the available government funds and start employment ventures, further calling on the county government to engage young people in development, adding that unemployment will be tackled through collaborative efforts.

“Most young people engage in antisocial activities because they have nothing else to do, that’s why you will see youths involved in most criminal cases in different areas,” added Ng’ang’a.

On the same note, the MP called on area leaders to focus on development instead of politicking, saying it is time for them to work for the people who massively voted for them in the 2013 General Elections.
