Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama should launch mega-projects and support youth-related activities if at all he thinks of recapturing the seat, county youths have said.

Speaking on Sunday at Borabu constituency during a consultative leadership meeting, the youths termed the governor's work as ‘slow and inconsistent’ and vowed to put more pressure on the county government for sustainable development.

According to them, the governor has spent much of his time investing on micro projects, with some said to be benefiting a few individuals within the county.

“We have come here to seek answers to slow development in our county. Most counties have done well in different departments especially in health and agriculture. However, ours, nothing concrete has been done two years down the line,” said Alex Ombiro, on behalf of the group.

“You cannot really take two years in office and fail to come up with grand projects. Furthermore, the governor is persistently rewarding his close allies, some of them who aren’t competent,” added Felix Ondeyo.

They threatened not to support Nyangarama in the 2017 general election if he does not rectify some of the few mistakes they have pointed out in the administration.

“We are the electorate and we have the mandate to show him out. He must work hard and convince us that he deserves the second chance,” Ondeyo added.

However, Chepilat MCA Alfayo Mwongeresa defended the county leadership and asked the youths to give the governor time to put proper mechanisms for growth in the county.
