Machakos Police boss Adiel Nyange has asked residents to work with the police so as to boost surveillance.

Addressing the press at this office on Thursday, the police boss said that the police are ready to work with the public.

He stated that crime will be tackled if there is a good working relationship between the police and members of the public.

The Police boss said that they are committed to ensure security of residents and their properties.

“I would like to appeal to the people of Machakos to provide us with information that will lead to the arrest of criminals,” he said.

The Police boss further urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious characters to law enforcers.

He said that nothing should be left to chance and that residents must be on the lookout and help stem criminals.

Mr Nyange said that the government has provided more facilitation in terms of vehicles and equipment that will help in surveillance.

He said that police will be conducting 24 hour security patrols in order to wipe out criminals and guarantee safety for locals.

Meanwhile, the police boss has cautioned drivers against over speeding while using the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

He complained that most motorists are flouting traffic rules but vowed to deal with them.

On Wednesday night a middle aged man was knocked down and killed by a speeding motorist who fled.

The incident according to the police took place at Elena junction. A manhunt for the driver of the vehicle has been launched.
