The Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospitals Workers union (Kudheiha) has issued a 14-day strike notice to the KMTC management.
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has allegedly failed to comply with a judgement delivered in November last year requiring the management to fully implement Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The judgement delivered on November 25, 2014 was to be implemented within 30 days failure to which “the union would be at liberty to use any lawful means available to enforce the implementation”.
The 30-day window period lapsed on December 25, 2014.
In a letter signed by Kudheiha Secretary General Albert Njeru and copied to Labour CS and all KMTC Principals, the workers have threatened to withdraw labour from April 7, 2015 in the event that the management will not have implemented the CBA.
Kudheiha had filed a case seeking to compel the government to pay salary arrears for more than 200 laid off KMTC workers.
