Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Uasin Gishu County Chairman, Peter Odima has urged workers to join unions.

He said this will help fight for their rights from their self-oriented employers who want to exploit their employees.

“ I want to urge workers especially cleaners, security officers, supermarket workers among others to join unions basing on their profession for them to be assisted in case of a dispute,” he said in Eldoret town, Friday.

“This will ensure that your right to good pay, good working condition, overtime and off days is upheld to the latter without any infringement. Every worker is entitled to joining any trade union that will facilitate fighting for their rights and any employer who thinks is above the law by denying them will face the law,” he added.

He also warned employers against employing minor saying this is against the law and they will be arrested and charged.

“I want to give a stern warning to individuals employing minors that their days are numbered and soon we will be coming for their neck,” noted Odima.
