[Photo|Governor's Press Service-Bungoma County]Bungoma and Kimilili towns in Bungoma are set for a major upgrade following the issue of Sh300 million infrastructural grant from the World Bank.Since taking office in August 2017, Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has held several meetings with World Bank officials on the possibility of funding infrastructure in the County. In a meeting with the World Bank officials in Nairobi on Thursday, the governor's prayers were answered when the Bank committed to fund the upgrading of infrastructure in the County's two main towns of Bungoma and Kimilili.Under the programme, Bungoma will be allocated Sh109 million while Kimilili will receive Sh191 million. Speaking in Maeni on Sunday at Kamusinde Catholic Church, Governor Wangamati said the grant will go towards the upgrade of roads, markets and improve access to water and sanitation in the markets. Other facilities earmarked for upgrade under the programme are sports stadia and health facilities. Disbursement of the Sh300 million is set for July.
