The World Bank has pledged to continue helping the Nakuru County government in improving sanitation standards as well as water supply to its residents.
The Global Manager of World Bank Water and Sanitation program Jyoti Shukla said that they have chosen Nakuru County to be among the counties which will benefit from funding by the World Bank in initiating sanitation and water distribution projects.
Speaking on Monday morning when she paid a courtesy call on governor Mbugua at his office, Shukla said that the county has shown commitment towards improving sanitation standards something she said has impressed the World Bank.
“It is clear that Nakuru is the champion when it comes to sanitation matters in the country and that is why we came here to learn what you are doing and transfer it to other counties and countries in the region. Governor Mbugua has become a real champion of sanitation and that is why the World Bank has recognized his efforts and pledged to support his efforts,” said Shukla.
Mbugua thanked the World Bank for the immense support it has offered his government and said he will continue working closely with the institution with the aim of making Nakuru the cleanest town in Africa.
“I want to thank world bank for the support they have extended to my county especially in the sector of sanitation and ask them to even go further and assist me in eradicating poverty and empowering small scale traders in Nakuru,” said Mbugua.
