The world cup extravaganza is around the corner, and football lovers and fans are gearing for the big event.
This is normally preceded by the trophy making a worldwide tour, moving across all continents but in some specific/chosen countries.
The trophy landed in Nairobi on Monday morning from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and will be in the country before it moves to Uganda and Tanzania.
Among the rules of the tour, only permitted security people and heads of state are allowed to touch the trophy.
This is because the trophy was stolen in 1966 in England, although it was discovered later hidden under flower beds.
It can be remembered how former Prime Minister Raila Odinga caused a stir in 2010 when the trophy was making the normal tour after he tried to touch the title.
Security detail moved in within a flash and moved his hand, in what was a fraction of a second.
As the trophy landed in Nairobi however, one official revealed that the main reason for the directive is because the cup is held so highly across the world, and the status needs to be maintained as such.
He further revealed that they are under strict orders that no one touches it, at least not in the full glare of cameras, and that will remain so.
