Addressing stakeholders at St Lwanga Catholic Church hall on Thursday, World Vision Nakuru County Coordinator, Beatrice Obonyo, noted that over 80 percent of Molo residents do not access clean water.

The forum that brought together youth and women groups, local leaders, environmental watch groups and members of the public discussed way forward in solving persistent water problem in the area.

Obonyo said that most residents harvest water from the local river, boreholes and dams.

She observed that there was a need for stakeholders to come up with sustainable water supply and management solutions.

She said that this will mitigate on the myriad of socio-economic challenges associated with the consumption of contaminated water.

“The World Vision will soon initiate a water filtering project that will involve training household and community based groups on how to harvest and treat water for safe consumption,”said Obonyo adding that the initiative has worked in some parts of the country .
