Farmers in Kapsoya estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town are in worry that their well-grown kales (skuma wiki) may go to waste before maturity due to the heavy rains going on.
Richard Baraka, a farmer from the area on Wednesday posted his worries in Eldoret Proud farmers Facebook page saying, "This is Milk and honey in Kapsoya but am afraid the rains may drain all this into waste. What do I do before its too late?" he asked.
Different farmers and Facebook users stormed the platform to answer his cry.
"Make a haste harvest, Sukumawiki doesn't survive in plenty of water," Mwikali Josephine advised.
"Don't let them drown. The green is so tempting, look for a buyer asap," David Mkulima added.
"Just pray God that the rains don't go for long. This is a real gold mine my brother," another farmer Edward Kipsang posted
Other Facebook users asked him to instead sell the greens though at a lower price.
"Niuzie at a considerable rate to save you the loss," Milka Mbuthia posted.
The rains have caused havoc to short-term crops in many áreas leading to huge losses for the small-scale farmers.
The weatherman has said that the rains are yet to stop and people should be cautious in their daily activities.
