The 2017 election saw a new phenomenon hitherto unseen in our politics emerge pointing to a new level in the manner in which politics is carried out in our land.
If one watched, you could clearly see a deliberate attempt by the political players to portray their militant nature by putting on military fatigues, perhaps a subtle warning to the opposing political side that it had the power to unleash its might when need be in the dangerous push and pull of our politics.
Jubilee Party had, ominously, its wing of women brigade which did not shy away from putting on military fatigues despite the law being so clear on who should do so.
On the other hand, NASA responded by creating its wing, the National Resistance Movement(NRM), which had the mandate to mobilize economic sabotage activities.Their jungle-green caps with an insignia of a folded fist and the inscription 'RESIST' became an instant hit with all quasi-revolutionaries within its strongholds.
Perhaps more worrying from the images seen was that women were at the forefront of this militarization of our politics.
It should worry you to see our women glorifying the violence of the military and using it as a fashion statement.
Something is definitely changing in the chemistry of the Kenyan woman and sociologists must come out to investigate this new phenomenon.
As it stands, we should all be worried as a nation that our mothers are gradually turning militant as days go by.
This trend must be checked lest it put us in more trouble soon.
