Siaya Senator James Orengo has said that it is better for Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to remain in the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) than join Jubilee because the worst he can expect is being a running mate.
According to the outspoken senator, the worst mistake the former vice president can make in his political career is ditching Cord for Jubilee.
Orengo argues that Jubilee is a full house and Kalonzo will not be chosen as either Presidential candidate or running mate.
“The worst case scenario is that he can be number two in Cord where he is a shareholder, wielding more stake compared to Jubilee where he cannot be either Presidential candidate or running mate,” said Orengo, as quoted by the Daily Post.
The senator has maintained Kalonzo is still a strong member of the coalition and talks about who will be the best candidate to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are ongoing.
“Talks about flag bearer are ongoing, but we have little misunderstanding which is normal.”
“Kalonzo is till solidly in Cord and there is nothing to worry about,” he added.
Over the weekend, Kalonzo accused Orengo and his Machakos counterpart Johnstone Muthama of plotting to rig him out of the presidential race.
