The 2018 Women Premier League (WPL) season will officially kick off on Saturday, with Vihiga Queens focusing on defending the WPL crown they won last year.
Vihiga Queens head Coach Alex Alumira said his squad is focused on ensuring that the title does not slip out of their hands.
“We won the league last year, and there’s only one option this year – to defend it,” he said in an interview with this writer on Tuesday.
The coach said preparations have been fruitful and they are now focused on collecting maximum points when they host Eldoret Falcons in the first league encounter on Sunday at the Mumias Sports Complex.
“We are prepared to collect maximum points but we understand it will be a tricky affair. Eldoret Falcons, Thika Queens, and Oserian Ladies are among favorite teams going for the title this season,” he said.
