Few days after Nyamira ODM youth league hosted area Governor John Nyagarama in the party’s offices, pressure is mounting on the officials to quit from the party.
Governor Nyagarama was elected on an ODM ticket but a number of the party’s bigwigs from the county have been questioning his loyalty to the party.
Led by Jonathan Gwaro on Wednesday, the angry youths threatened to write to party’s Secretary General to push for removal of youth league team led by Dennis Marube on grounds that they hosted a disloyal member.
“As party members, we call upon the Party’s Secretary General Ababu Namwamba to take an action over youth league leaders led by Marube. They are silently pushing for nomination of Nyagarama in 2017 yet he has been a disgrace to the party,” he said.
“The Governor has been disloyal and is rarely seen in the functions attended by Raila Odinga. We all know that he dines with Jubilee and our stand as youths remains that he is unwanted,” he added.
They also accused the Nyamira County Chief of underdevelopment and grand corruption, saying the allegations were against the spirit of Orange party.
“As ODM, we always stand for development and accountability. The county government is full of corruption scandals and as residents; we can testify that no meaningful progress has been achieved by him. Time has come for the party to dissociate from him. Those youths propagating his agenda must also be punished,” he said.
However, youth league leader Dennis Marube dismissed the angry youths saying the Governor had a right to visits the offices since he is a member of the party.
“I don’t see a big deal when one of our senior member visits us in office. He has not defected and we must know that. He is welcome to share with us because after all is an ODM governor,” he said.
