Learning at Opande primary school in Seme sub-county in Kisumu County was interrupted for the better part of Wednesday, after parents and board members demanded removal of the head teacher.
The parents and board members led by the board Chairman Joseph Nyambwa Oyaro accused the head teacher of running the school without consultations and lack of transparency.
Oyaro said their attempts to resolve the issues with the head teacher have born no fruit adding that they want him transferred.
“The head teacher has been unwilling to even sit down with me as the board chairman to address pertinent issues of finances,” said Oyaro.
However, when contacted the Head teacher, Felix Otieno said the board chairman is serving his own personal interests adding that the allegations he is raising are baseless and false.
He further accused him of trying to force his interests like setting up a parallel ECD centre outside the school which is donor-supported yet he wants pupils from the school taken to learn at the facility.
Ouma says the school has been performing well and has been number one in most examinations in the Manywanda zone, adding that it is forces of impunity that are fighting him with no apparent reason.
Area District Education Officer (DEO) Beatrice Otieno on her part said they are aware of the stalemate in the school adding that the matter is being investigated and action will be taken.
She said the quality assurance team has had a meeting with the school management team, adding that the investigative report over the matter will be out soon.
“We do not want actions that interfere with running of normal school programmes and very soon this impasse will be put to an amicable rest,” said Otieno.
