The project has however taken much longer than expected delaying the benefit of proper water supply to the people.

"I have been receiving complaints from the Yatta Member of Parliament, Francis Mwangangi that the contractor has been dragging work in this project and I will assure the contractor is sacked and replaced if the work is not done in the next two months so that Kenyans start enjoying this useful resource," said the president.

Uhuru said that his government has invested over Sh2 billion in the Yatta canal project so that the canal can supply water maximumly.

Uhuru also told the people if they wish to demonstrate against IEBC they could do so without destroying other citizen's property.
