The Director and founder of Muli Children's Family Dr Charles Muli has organised the celebration of African Child in Matuu area Yatta sub-county.
Speaking on Wednesday while addressing the media in Ndalani area, Muli raised the concern for protecting children from any type of abuse.
"The day of African child is greatly celebrated after OAU set a date mainly to fight for girl child rights who is vulnerable to different forms of abuse like rape and even the boys who can go through the same," said Muli.
The founder of Mully Children's Family has so far two homes for the orphans and needy children in Yatta sub-county among other homes in Eldoret and Coast areas.
Muli further stated he had done an extension at the Matuu police station for a purpose of donating to children and women.
"We have done construction extension in Matuu police station under Yatta District to enable all children and women cases reported under the Genever Convention, "he added.
Muli stated the aim was to provide a platform where women and children issues can be listened to and legal action taken by police officers.
International African Day was started on June 16, 1976 following a demonstration by thousands of Soweto children In South Africa in quest for better education.
Unfortunately, hundreds of the children were killed during the event.
