Yatta sub-county administrator has cautioned the area residents and investors against putting up buildings for commercial purposes without following the right planning regulations.
Speaking on Tuesday afternoon in Matuu townwhile adressing the residents during a forum, Jackson Muthini sent a stern warning to the investors stating if they act on the contrary they would face the law.
“We have noted with a lot of concern that many people putting up buildings in Yatta are not following the right steps of planning while building apartments for commercial purposes,” said Muthini.
The administrator cited that the habit is putting the lives of residents at risk whenever they rent premises that are at a risk of collapsing.
“When construction is not done in the right manner, the people at risk are those that rent the places as the buildings will eventually turn out to be weak mainly during rainy seasons,” said Muthini.
Muthini stated that the owners are expected to ensure the construction is approved by the right bodies and the government.
“Those who fail to adhere to the rules will face the law. For instance, we have taken two of such law breakers to court today and they will be charged according to the law,” he added.
